V.i. Labs Webinar Will Focus on Fight Against Use of Pirated Software
Online conversation includes best practices from former Microsoft anti-piracy
expert
WALTHAM, Mass — June 16, 2009 - V.i. Laboratories, (“V.i. Labs”), a leading
provider of piracy business intelligence and software protection solutions, will
host an online discussion on quantifying the scope and revenue impact of software
piracy on independent software vendors (ISVs), as well as creating actionable leads
by identifying users of unlicensed software.
On Thursday, June 18, 2:00 p.m. EDT/11:00 a.m. PDT, former Microsoft Director
of Worldwide Anti-piracy Investigations Richard LaMagna and V.i. Labs Vice President
of Products Victor DeMarines will offer insight and recommendations on combating
software piracy. A Question and Answer session will follow the presentation.
LaMagna will discuss best practices for building an anti-piracy program to identify
and recover revenue from businesses using unlicensed software, while DeMarines will
introduce methods for equipping legal and sales teams with indisputable evidence
to support recovery objectives.
“Many software vendors struggle to measure the extent of damages caused by piracy
and the illegal use of their products,” said DeMarines. “As a result, they are ill-prepared
to make data-driven decisions regarding appropriate strategies and tactics to address
this problem. We feel better education of this problem is the best course of action
to begin fighting this problem.”
Webinar attendees will learn:
- How to measure the scope and impact of software piracy
- Best practices for building an anti-piracy program
- How software vendors have evolved their anti-piracy approaches to recover revenue
